In this contribution, we propose a facile two-step strategy to tune the cross-link of alginate, obtaining alginate/PAAm hydrogels cross-linked by various multivalent cations. The mechanical properties of these hydrogels are greatly enhanced compared with the hydrogels prepared by one-step method.
