Does accelerator TETD need sulfur?
Sulfur is not required, but is often used. TETD can be blended with TMTD to reduce the tendency of the compound to bloom while maintaining cure activity. Accelerator TETD is also available as Akroform® TETD-75. This polymeric masterbatch contains 75% Accelerator TETD.
Do I need a fatty acid to use TETD?
Normally zinc oxide and a fatty acid are required when using TETD in a natural rubber application. Sulfur is not required, but is often used. TETD can be blended with TMTD to reduce the tendency of the compound to bloom while maintaining cure activity. Accelerator TETD is also available as Akroform® TETD-75.
What is TETD & how do you treat it?
Use adequate ventilation. TETD is a thiuram, which combined with alcohol, causes severe toxic symptoms & skin flushes (antabuse effect).
