促进剂ZMBT可用作天然橡胶、通用合成橡胶及胶乳硫化的促进剂，其性质与促进剂M相似，但促进效力稍弱。 2-硫醇基苯并噻唑锌盐具有硫化促进作用快、硫化平坦性低以及混炼时无早期硫化等特点，被广泛应用于橡胶加工工业，是天然胶与合成胶必不可少的高效橡胶硫化促进剂。 在电解槽内加甲醇30mL，将纯度为98%的2-巯基苯并噻唑0.5g加入，再加入导电剂四丁基溴化铵0.1g，35℃水浴加热条件下充分搅拌溶解，电解槽的搅拌速度为200转/分钟，阳极为金属锌片，阴极为石墨，通直流电反应并调节反应过程中电流为60mA。 TLC跟踪反应进程，电解反应至电解槽中2-巯基苯并噻唑消失，得悬浊液。 过滤，所得滤液返回电解槽继续使用，滤饼用甲醇（5mLx3）洗涤，干燥，得固体产物2-巯基苯并噻唑锌盐，收率99.3%。
